The one frame difference at higher frame rates is marginal, in the 3-6 ms range, since pros would have already had their settings configured to only 1 max rendered frame. It's more for frame locked games, or for situations where you aren't pumping out more than 75-90 fps consistently. Before it was a pretty standard practice to set it to 1, which is now the setting for 'On.'įor people that have solid gaming rigs, this isn't going to much of an impact on OW. So if you're someone who preset up their gaming rig months/years ago, or had someone configure it for a friend, you are going to be actively worse due to the new default being enforced. One of the issues is that the default setting turns your Max Prerendered Frame setting to 3, since this is replacing that old setting. On PC when you use a shitty TV with mouse and keyboard, you can never quite catch up to the character you're trying to track with your crosshair because everything you're seeing already happened on the PC 50ms ago and you're basically chasing just behind them no matter how good your aim is because you can't track someone that is already not where you're actually seeing them The stuff you do will still only take 16.7ms to register on the actual console, but on the shitty TV you're basing your tracking and aiming off information that already happened 50ms ago, effectively adding it to your input lag. On a shitty TV with 50ms input lag, it would equate to 66.7ms, giving them a 49ms advantage. ![]() On their 1ms monitor, that would equate to 17.7ms before seeing an input on screen since it only takes 1ms to get from the console to the display. ![]() Say you're at 60fps and getting 16.7ms input lag, it is finally finished being rendered and ready to be sent to the output device. The way it works is your monitor/TV's input lag gets added to the input lag of the game. ![]()
